This term our topic is ‘Polar Explorers’.
We are taking part in the STEM Polar Explorer Programme and will be working with Techniquest throughout our project. We will be looking at people that explore and work in the polar regions, how they live and the equipment they need. We will look at the design and building of ice breaker boats. We will also be writing persuasively about climate change. We will look at ‘polygon art’ creating icebergs and penguins, as well as building igloos from sugar cubes.
Please take a look at our topic overview below for more details.
Reading books need to be brought in by Thursday to be changed on Fridays.
Spellings will be sent home at the end of each week. These should be practised daily using ‘look, say, cover, write, check’. Coloured high frequency words will also be sent home to practise both reading and spelling.
Mathletics should also be practised regularly as a form of homework.
PE is on Tuesday afternoons. PE kits should be left in school and sent home for washing at half terms as they may be needed on other days. Please ensure children have a pair of trainers in school for our daily ‘Smile Around the MUGA’.
