  • Better Energy School Awards for Excellence in Environmental Education, ‘Totally Clued up Regional Champions,' THE RED KITE PROJECT.
  • School Council Parliament Speaker's Award for work on Anti-Bullying.

  • Lead Network School (LNS) for SCIENCE - practice is shared across South East Wales in partnership with the Education Achievement Service (EAS)

  • Better Energy School Awards for Excellence in Environmental Education, ‘Totally Clued up Regional Runners Up,' HELP OUR HOGS.
  • Primary Science Teacher of the Year at Fochriw Primary School.
  • National finalists for Enterprise Troopers, 'Worry Dolls of Fochriw Primary School.'
  • Recognition award ROYAL BRITISH LEGION Bargoed Branch partnership with the school.
  • Welsh Heritage winners 2018 for historical enquiry into 'The Newport Transporter Bridge.'

  • Philosophy for Children (P4C) Sapere Bronze award winners (*only school in Caerphilly and one of only a handful in Wales)

  • UN Bronze Rights Respecting School award. This recognises our commitment to the journey for Unicef UK for the Rights of the Child.
  • Better Energy School Awards for Excellence in Environmental Education, ‘Totally Scientific  Regional Champions for CLIMATE CHANGE.' 
  • Most celebrated school in the Welsh Government’s Enterprise troopers – winning THREE awards for entrepreneurial practice. Winners of the Enterprise Troopers Award. Winners for Curriculum Links. Winner of Outstanding Talented Individual 
  • Platinum Eco Schools (*only one in our cluster). We were also verified as having BEACON ECO SCHOOLS STATUS, which is only awarded to a handful of schools in the whole of Wales! This means that any schools who need ideas/guidance and if Welsh Government wish to visit schools with excellence in Environmental Education we are on the database.   
  • Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award recognising excellence in Welsh language development and practice across the school.  
  • Recognised Operation Encompass School.
  • Signed pledge to National Participation Standards.
  • Dementia Friendly Schools status.  
  • One of only two schools in Caerphilly chosen as pilot schools for the Resilience Framework.   
  • School accredited Digital Heroes trained for intergenerational work with digital technology.
