Meet the Climate Change Team at Fochriw Primary School

An award winning short film showcasing the approach Fochriw Primary School take to teaching and learning about climate change. The film celebrates the approach to the New Curriculum promoting authentic learning experiences. Along with humanities, science and technology the film shows how digital skills are promoted.

Annual Litter Picks Have Taken Place Since Spring 2015 with Keep Wales Tidy

Wales 2050 - FOCHRIW PRIMARY SCHOOL (A film in response to the WG request for schools to consider Wales in the Future).

What better way to explore the New Curriculum through these authentic learning experiences. The children used their digital skills across Areas of Learning to consider the challenges that face humanity. They thought about creative, ethical, informed and sustainable actions. They demonstrated they were ambitious, capable learners and showed character filming in the blustery conditions in their community of Fochriw and surrounding Darran Valley! We are incredibly proud of the amount of work, thought (and additional input from the Eco-Committee carrying out research in their own time) put into this film!

  • National Award Winners for 'The Red Kite' Project. Our informed, self-aware citizens, clinch a national prize at an awards ceremony in London through investigating the plight and subsequent actions that brought about the successful growth of the Red Kite. This bird features daily in the lives of the pupils and they chose to learn more about it resulting in an ambitious, successful project!

The Red Kite is OUR BIRD at Fochriw.
