  • Operation Encompass

Fri 08 Feb 2019 Headteacher CP Designate
    WHAT IS OPERATION ENCOMPASS?
We are officially an OPERATION ENCOMPASS SCHOOL. It is a unique Police and Education early
intervention SAFEGUARDING partnership. The purpose is to fully support children who are
    experiencing Domestic Abuse.
The headteacher is the: Child Protection, Safeguarding, Prevent & Counter-terrorism and now
Operation Encompass Designate. Mrs. Michelle Harris is the link governor for: child protection,
safeguarding and now Operation Encompass. Mr. Rhys Griffiths is the Community Safety, Prevent &
Counter-terrorism link governor. The named governors, along with our other Governing Body
members, challenge the standards of our school in a supportive manner; safety is a number one
    priority.
The headteacher has received full training as the designate and to secure our school as an
OPERATION ENCOMPASS School. All staff will receive training to be trauma sensitive and informed in
the area of Domestic Abuse before half-term.
You will see Operation Encompass: on our website, in our school brochure, school notice boards and
a framed certificate in our school foyer. If you wish to find out detailed information on Operation
Encompass you can follow them on Twitter @operationencomp or search the following website:
    www.operationencompass.org
Children who experience domestic abuse have the right to feel safe and their voices heard and most
importantly acted upon. They need services and support sensitive to their needs. As a school we
need to have awareness to support the child. We will be the voice of the child in a sensitive, safe
way. We will be working very closely with GWENT POLICE and the Local Authority as an OPERATION
    ENCOMPASS SCHOOL.
Thank you for your continued support working with us as a team for the child. I’m sure you’ll agree
that being an OPERATION ENCOMPASS School, working so closely with Gwent Police, will
undoubtedly be a positive for the child and their safety, as mentioned earlier, a number one priority
    for us.
Should you wish to find out further information or discuss this with the designate, please book an
    appointment through the school.
