This term our topic is ‘The Gold Coast’
This term, we shall be learning all about Amazing Australia!
Through our topic we shall be:
Ambitious Capable Learners
Ethically Informed Citizens
Enterprising Contributing Creators
Healthy, Confident Individuals
We shall be exploring Australia through a range of different topics, we shall be exploring the great barrier reef, understanding the history of Australia and indigenous art. We shall be exploring the wildlife and sea life.
We will take a look at the tourist attractions that is situated in Australia, that includes the Sydney Harbor Bridge, Ayers rock, the Sydney Opera House and so much more!
Our novel this term is Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone
We shall be writing stories in Literacy linked to our Australian topic, creating Haiku Poems about the Coral Reefs and bleaching, creating fact files about The Great Barrier Reef and creating Non Chronological Reports.
In Numeracy we shall be taking part in Problem Solving tasks linked to Australia, we shall continue to use TAPAS to develop our written and mental calculations.
We shall also be holding our very own AUSTRALIA DAY! where we shall be taking part in a range of different events throughout the day! We are even going to take over the presenting roles for I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of Here!
Reading books need to be brought in by Thursday to be changed on Fridays.
Spellings will be sent home at the end of each week. These should be practised daily using ‘look, say, cover, write, check’. Coloured high frequency words will also be sent home to practise both reading and spelling.
Mathletics should also be practised regularly as a form of homework.
PE is on Tuesday afternoons. PE kits should be left in school and sent home for washing at half terms as they may be needed on other days. Please ensure children have a pair of trainers in school for our daily ‘Smile Around the MUGA’.
