Wales 2050 - FOCHRIW PRIMARY SCHOOL

A short video in response to the request from the Welsh Government for schools in Wales to consider the Wales they would like to see in their future.
The children used their digital skills across Areas of Learning to consider the challenges that face humanity. They thought about creative, ethical, informed and sustainable actions. They demonstrated they were ambitious, capable learners and showed character filming in the blustery conditions in their community of Fochriw and surrounding Darran Valley! We are incredibly proud of the amount of work, thought (and additional input from the Eco-Committee carrying out research in their own time) put into this film!
After becoming NATIONAL RUNNERS UP the Eco-Committee of Fochriw Primary School did not stop there! They met in the summer term and decided how they could use this video to inform the whole school to TAKE ACTION from the ideas raised and be more sustainable so they could live in a future world they could be proud of. This entry has had a huge 'knock on' effect to the pupils of Fochriw Primary School being ethically, informed citizens.

Eco Committee

The Eco committee are always working hard to look after and improve the school and the local area.

The Eco Committee is made up of children from Reception to Year 6.

In September 2015 we successfully achieved our 2nd green flag.

This year the committee have been focusing on 'Healthy Living' and continuing to improve the 'School Grounds.'

In March 2016 the Committee worked in partnership with children from Plasyfelin Primary School to clean up the local river.  This was in readiness for the release of the salmon from the award winning STEM Project Based Learning, 'The Salmon Story.'
